She awakes with a frown
Netgirl is feeling down
So she takes a walk downtown
Round and around this crazy old town
Round and around this crazy old town
Round and around this crazy old

Still the yucky feelings lurk
as she stumbles into work
She made it just in time
Netgirl works at the five and dime
Netgirl works at the five and dime
Netgirl works at the five and dime

Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no joy
Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no joy
Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no doy

As she mops the floor and stocks the shelf
Netgirl peers deep inside of herself
She doesn't like what she knows
as far as herself goes.

How can she go on
in this day to day cycle of
		         NOTHINGNESS
Her brother is a hero throughout the land,
Getting those greyhound races banned

Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no joy
Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no joy
Living in the shadow of Netboy
		No happiness, no doy

I was working at Willy St. Coop when I made this up. I believe it was the 2nd of 3 "Netboy" songs that we play, the others being "Old Crap" and "Netboy." All have to do with stopping greyhound racing, which was just getting going in Wisconsin at that time. Unfortunately, the practice still goes on, often with government giveaways to unprofitable tracks.

Here it is at iTunes from our first cd Royal Jelly. Over the course of Your Mom, Your Mom SRO and The Coma Savants the song has taken on different sounds. Always a crowd favorite! The recorded version features a wah peddle on one of the organ tracks. Great headphone music.
